The Green River is fishable and clear! The flows came down fast and after a few days to settle things down, the water cleared up! Fishing has been good on all stretches. Drakes have tapered off a lot but the fish are still willing to eat them occasionally. Golden Stones, Sallies, Caddis, and some PMDs have been getting the fish to look up still and if you’re a big fly kinda guy, toss hoppers and chubbies. The world of ‘getting down and dirty’ is still bringing some big fish to the net, so don’t be afraid to throw some ugly streamers or work with a dry/dropper rig. Flows dropped fast, but have stabilized the last 48 hours. Fishing is good and will improve over the coming weeks with big top-water action.
The flows have dropped a little over the past 10 days, and the river is hit or miss- but that’s business as usual when talking about the New Fork. Dry fly fishing is still a good bet and some great fish are being caught on the river. Same story as the Green for bugs and action.
A long-time client of TRFC with the ‘fish of the day’
This river is a great option for early season fishing. Working under Wind River Troutfitters, LLC, TRFC offers guided float trips on this fishery. We currently have 2 guides that are permitted to run this section, so call us up and we can get you there. The fishing has been good under an indicator with scuds, sow bugs, worms, and hot bead nymphs. The stoneflies are around just enough to have a few fish looking up to them. The flows are way down but the water temps are way up! Get an early start and stop fishing if the temps get above 68 degrees. Look toward having some great fishing in early August down there.
Soda Lake has been fishing off and on. The water temps are climbing and reaching into the 70’s in the shallows. Hit the early morning hours and late evening when the fish are more active. Streamers, buggers, leeches and mice have been working. Scuds and chrons are consistently working too. Stop in the shop so you can pick up some of our new lake patterns.
